History of the Challenge...

...AND 'KING OF THE MOUNTAIN' HALL OF FAME

The former Wellington Rotary Club Mt Arthur Challenge was held between 1985-1991. The event involved a run from Wellington's Pioneer Park, ascending Mt Arthur and returning again. Former participant and 6 times winner Tony Vernon has kindly shared some clippings and memorabilia of the event (slideshow below). A new version of the event was brought back by the Mt Arthur Challenge Committee on behalf of the Mt Arthur Reserve Trust in 2014 as part of the Trust's 50th Anniversary celebrations. The event was an enormous success!

The event was held again in 2015 and was awarded the honour of 'Wellington Community Event of the Year' at the 2016 Australia Day Awards Ceremony.

Registrations are currently open for the 2016 event.
